USRP2(beta) released
Some days ago Matt Ettus released the new USRP2 board. It’s the successor of the famous URSP/GNURadio hardware. Some of the USRP2-features:
- Gigabit ethernet interface replacing the former USB2 interface
- The larger FPGA (Xilinx Spartan 3-2000) containing a 32-bit RISC processor now allows you to do most processing directly within the FPGA
- SD-Card for storing configuration, firmware and data making the USRP2 a standalone hardware
- 50(25) MHz RF-bandwith processing in and out or 100 MHz unidirectional
- Expansionport for MIMO-applications with 2 MBit/s
- Two 100 MegaSampels/s 14-bit analog to digital converters
- Two 400 MegaSampels/s 16-bit digital to analog converters
- Compatibility to all USRP1 daugtherboards but only one transceiver or tranmitter-/receiver-bundle :-/
Unfortuantely the price has nearly doubled (now $1400) and may even increase in the future :-/
For more infos see the USRP2 release notes on SDR-blog.
